If you encounter a "Failure to Fetch Report Data" error, where the generating report spins and the PDF only contains a cover page, there is likely a problem with the physical address of your church.
Addresses in Industrial or Commercial Areas
Many churches are located in areas where nobody lives (industrial or commercial areas). When you try to copy and paste these industrial or commercial addresses into the Church Profile form, you may encounter an error message that says, “Invalid address data received. Please try selecting a different address.”
Additionally, when you copy and paste your address into the Cost of Living Analysis app the system will only find a match for the address using X,Y coordinates. At the top of the map, you will see “Matched Coordinates” on the right-hand side instead of “Matched Address.” This is a clue that geocoding (finding your location) is problematic for the Census Bureau.
Note: If you don’t have an Expanded membership, you can independently confirm this by visiting the Census Bureau’s Geocoder.
Confirm your Address ⛪️
Pro Tip: Visit the One Line Address form at the Census Geocoder.
Copy and paste your address into the One Line Address field.
Select:
Benchmark = Public_AR_Current
Vintage = Census2020_Current
Click the blue Get Results button.
If the Census Bureau finds “No Matches,” you will likely need to use a different nearby residential address to generate salary reports.
How to Find a Nearby Residential Address ⛪️
If the Census Bureau is having a hard time geocoding your church’s address in an industrial or commercial area, do the following:
Visit Google Maps.
Copy and paste your address into the search bar.
Navigate around the map and find the nearest residential neighborhood.
Click on a house to reveal that address.
Copy the address.
Paste it into your Church Profile or the Salary Report address field and try generating a report with it.
