This article describes the Salary Comparison section of a report & how it relates to the Salary Summary

Updated yesterday

In the Salary Comparison section, a nationwide dataset of similar employees—which forms the basis of the Nationwide Salary Summary section—is filtered into subsets based on four compensation factors.

  1. Experience

  2. Education

  3. Ordination

  4. Geographic Setting

All of the numbers in this section are averages based on each subset of similar employees (e.g., senior pastors with 6-10 years of experience).

NOTE: If you see a dash in a section of your report, that means there are not enough people who fit that description in the database.

Factors to consider when investigating numbers in your tables of your report:

  • Averages you see are based on real employees in the real world

  • They serve as a guide and snapshot to help place employees within a salary range

  • The numbers represent a range of an average of how churches compensate on the categories in the salary comparison section

Averages may be different based on some examples below:

  • Minimum sample size of employees to fit the profile but not enough to produce a clean looking average

  • Doctorate averages for pastors may dip - i.e. they have a second job teaching at a local bible college - this example would only display their church salary and not their adjunct compensation

  • Experience differences - for example, a pastor who has over 25 years experience might be working as a favor to their church or an individual who has retired from a business

NOTE: Only full-time pastor reports contain a dedicated section for localizing salary.
