The Precise Report: Customize your Search 🔎

The Precise Budget & Size Report (often referred to simply as the Precise Report) moves beyond predetermined budget and attendance categories, empowering you to define your own specific financial and demographic parameters for salary report generation.

Key Enhancements 📊

The Precise Report introduces three major components designed to enhance accuracy, transparency, and usability for professional users.

1. Histogram Range Slider

The Histogram Range Slider enables users to set precise minimum and maximum values for three continuous variables:

  • Church Budget

  • Church Size (Attendance)

  • Relevant Experience

Functionality:

  • Adjust the range using draggable handles or enter exact numerical values.

  • Example: A church with a $345,000 budget might see an initial range of $270K–$420K, which can then be fine-tuned.

Visualization:

  • The slider includes a simple histogram—a visual graph showing how data is distributed—to help users select ranges based on actual data density.

2. Dynamic Sample Size Banner

The Sample Size Banner provides real-time feedback as you define your search criteria, showing how your selections affect the underlying data sample.

Features:

  • Real-time count: Displays the total number of “similar employees serving at similar churches” that will be used in your report.

  • Dynamic updates: Automatically refreshes as filters such as budget, position, and employment status change.

  • Optimization guidance: Includes a helpful reminder that “Discarding size will always have the biggest impact on your results,” supporting users in achieving optimal sample sizes and data accuracy.

3. Tooltips (Transparency for Figures)

Tooltips within the generated report provide detailed context for nearly every numeric figure, enhancing transparency and trust in the data.

Information displayed:

  • Hovering over a number reveals:

    • Sample Size (N) — the count of employees included in the data.

    • Margin of Error — based on a 95% confidence interval.

Example format:

N = 104 (+/- $2,453)

Specifics:

  • Averages display both sample size and margin of error.

  • Percentiles (e.g., median and quartiles) display sample size only.

How to generate a Precise Report 📋

  1. Click on Launch Dashboard once you are logged in, then click Hybrid Report under the Applications section of the page.

  2. Click Edit Criteria to add positions from the dropdown and assign a percentage to each.

Range Slider: Use the slider to set minimum and maximum values—like church budget, attendance, or years of experience. A chart shows how many churches or staff fit your range, so you can see the impact right away. A visual histogram accompanies the slider, illustrating the distribution of employees and churches, helping users understand how their custom range impacts data inclusion or exclusion.

Using the Church Size Range Slider 🎚️

Church Size Range: Positioned above the "Generate Report" button, this banner provides a real-time count of "similar employees serving at similar churches" that will be used to generate the report based on the selected criteria.

  1. Drag the sliders to set your range

  2. Type in the input fields for precise values

  3. Press Enter to save your typed values

  4. Click outside to save & apply changes

Pro Tip: This report allows for more accurate reporting by placing your church in the middle of a precise salary range. This helps gauge report accuracy through sample size and margin of error, and facilitates iterative refinement of search parameters.
